Sa mga sumusubaybay sa NBA, di na siguro balita na si coach Spoelstra ng Miami Heat ay may dugong pinoy. Kauuwi lamang niya sa Pinas at kinuwento niya yung karanasan niya.

Muntik na pala siyang maglaro sa PBA:

"I really wanted to play in the professional league over here out of college," he said. "I was recruited over here by Jim Kelly, who is now a scout with the Toronto Raptors. My plan was to come over here. I was going to play as a Filipino-American, so I would have played as one of their locals.

"Instead, I had the opportunity in Germany and I wanted to see Europe. My every intention was to play in Europe for a couple of years and then come back and finish it up and play, whatever, five, six, seven years in the Philippines. But then I got the opportunity with the Heat. So it's probably the only regret, not the way it turned out, obviously, but I wish I would have had an opportunity to play here for at least a season."
